Always Be Sure To Back Up Data Using USB External Hard Drives
Computers are such an amazing thing. You can store your movies, music, pictures and all other kinds of documents and files. I, like most people, have a tendency to collect a lot of things. Two of which, movies and music, are digital, meaning they can be kept on a computer. USB external hard drives allow me to store all my movies and music safely and keeps my hard drive space freed up. My collection has become quite extensive over the years and I quite enjoy having it.
Quite some time back I got a virus on my computer and it wound up wiping out my hard drive. Unfortunately I lost all my files on my computer. This was when I first discovered USB external hard drives. Ever since I've kept all my files on my computer backed up. I own quite a few external hard drives, some of which I don't use anymore. So I've come to know what to look for in them. If your looking, be sure to check out the following:
- make sure it's got a USB 2.0 plugin, most do anyways
- look for something with a serial bus transfer rate of at least 400Mb/s, this will allow for quick data transfer
- most now are compatible with both Mac and Microsoft operating systems, which allows for the utmost in flexibility
- I find 500GB is a good amount of storage space, it gives you plenty of room for music, photos, files etc..
- always make sure it has a warranty
The thing I love most about them is that a lot of them a very compact and light. There are ones that you can fit in your pocket, and they'll hold 500GB of data. That's total convenience. Some of them have a sync with your home computer as well. It allows you to essentially take your home computer anywhere you go. It will store your web browser, all you security logins and pass codes, all your contacts, emails, you name it. And you don't have to worry about giving out private info because if you use it on another computer it only uses the computer. All the software is on the external hard drive so your using the computer to run the software on your hard drive. Everything stays in the external hard drive. It's really quite amazing.
I really suggest you go out and purchase 1 or 2 USB external hard drives. You'll be glad you did. For all the convenience it provides for you, not to mention the safety of backing up all your data like movies and music. Get lots more information at www.USB-External-Hard-Drives.com.
